SELAM has been working together with foundations for many years now. Major projects such as the vocational training centre for metalwork and catering in Hawassa, the introduction of an IT training course in Addis Ababa, and the expansion of the metalwork training course with the provision of a CNC (computerized numerical control) machine have all been made possible thanks to our collaborations with foundations.
SELAM is a reliable partner with over 35 years' experience in international development work. The ZEWO quality seal guarantees transparency in the use of the monies entrusted to us and the sustainable impact of our projects. We look forward to collaborating with your foundation in areas including childcare, education, women's support, health, technology and water supply.
Why work together with SELAM?
-
We have over 35 years' experience in international collaboration via different programs ; children's homes, schools, vocational training, community support, agriculture.
-
Amongst other things, we have introduced a successful vocational training model at the SELAM sites. With 70% practice and 30% theory, we provide trainees with state-certified vocational training that offers good career prospects.
-
We have been ZEWO-certified since 2018. We adhere to strict guidelines when using our donated funds and are regularly audited.
-
SELAM Ethiopia has been under Ethiopian management since 2011 and has been overseen by an Ethiopian governing board and board of directors ever since.
-
Development processes and appropriate projects are determined by the Ethiopian management team. This means that the activities are culturally appropriate, efficient and sustainable.
-
SELAM Ethiopia is subject to stringent state monitoring. Major projects are always put out to public tender, for example. We receive regular reports on the projects we fund. Our programme director, Christoph Zinsstag, is in regular contact with the directors and managers, and visits the site one to two times a year.
